Tiberiy Szilvashi (°1947, Mukachevo – woont en werkt in Kiev, Oekraïne)

Hoewel Tiberiy Szilvashi in zijn werk vooral wil ontsnappen aan taal en uitleg, is hij op het idee van het “chronorealisme” gekomen om zijn beschouwelijk idioom te duiden. Hij experimenteert langzaam met verschillende schilderkunstige middelen en formaten en combineert innovatieve concepten met tradities uit de coloristische cultuur. Elke kleur is een kleur op zich en verschijnt in onrustig flakkerende vegen of bevende tactiele patronen in geel, groen, rood en wit. Hij streeft er tegelijk naar om de grenzen van het beeld te verleggen en er een open structuur van te maken, waarin de ruimte en de toeschouwer een integrerend deel van de vibrerende compositie kunnen zijn.

Even though Tiberiy Szilvashi wishes to escape from language and explanations in his work, he nevertheless distilled the notion of “chrono-realism” as a tool to interpret his contemplative idiom. He experiments with various pictorial means and formats in order to combine innovative concepts with traditions from the colourist culture. Each colour exists in its own right and appears in restlessly flickering smudges or trembling yellow, green, red or white tactile patterns. Concurrently, he aims to shift the painting’s boundaries and turn it into an open structure within which the space and the observer can become parts of the vibrating composition.
